What To Wear To The Library Foundation’s Fabulously French White Party?

You know how much we love to eat and drink for a cause. Nothing like some community productive multitasking, right? And San Antonio has so much to offer. From Culinaria’s Jazz Brunch coming up next Sunday to The Library Foundation’s Nuit Blanche party tonight and much more in between. We are thrilled to share some fabulous food fundraising events that involve equally fabulous dining options.  Yet, what does one wear to these occasions? Delicious dresses? We think so…

Tonight we will be walking the white carpet with The San Antonio Library Foundation, trust us when we say, they knowhow to throw a party. Tonight marks the 5th Annual Nuit Blanche dinner at the Landa Library Gardens. This event screams fashion, fabulous food and fun.

The beautiful Landa garden is set to be “drenched in white French inspired decorations while vintage Parisian films procured by Ghost Town Ventures writer/producer/director Alex Schenker flicker in the background. The Foundation modeled Nuit Blanche after the fabulously famous “Diner en Blanc” held annually in Paris where thousands of fashionable Parisians, dressed all in white, converge on the city’s most picturesque locations for a feast where they bring their own epicurean banquet.”

So clearly we are thinking….

What do we wear to a Parisian inspired white party? Think beautiful library park meets this…

And of course we have to add some of our favorite local restaurants and chefs like The Esquire Tavern, Larder at The Hotel Emma, Tim The Girl and The Hotel Valencia who will be providing French/Continental inspired meals to the overall look of the event.- So we put on our food-lover fashionista pants on and looked at some of our favorite sites for 3 white looks to compliment the party. Because when you live in Texas every season is white season….

We love modcloth.com for funky meets fun.

These adorable shoes ($129.99) with the touch of turquoise combined with this little white dress ($59.99) screams outdoor dinner.

We also love the sleeves on this white dress combine it with a pair of boots, is the perfect white party meets fall look and the site gojane.com is also very affordable ($48.00).

Maybe you want to find something local? May we suggest checking out Penny Lane in Alamo Heights- we found a little dress that looked like this on the sale rack- and we are thinking a pair of cute red shoes will compliment it perfectly.

Last day of San Antonio’s Restaurant Week Benefiting Culinaria…

Are we there yet? Seriously these past two weeks San Antonioian’s have been absolutely spoiled by San Antonio’s Restaurant Week benefiting Culinaria. In lieu of the celebrations of menus galore, we have recapped some of our favorite bites and highly encourage you to get out there tonight and try some menus before it’s all over.

We would love to thank Culinaria as well as all of our hard-working restaurant friends for your generosity and fabulously extended restaurant week(s) this post and toast is for you.

Best Dish: CITRUS’s Thai Fried Chicken

Chef David Gilbert and his team at Citrus of Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, blew us away with his fried chicken dish. This is not like any other friend chicken you have ever had, it’s tangy, sweet and not greasy at all- the #SAFOODIE crowd seemed to love it too, check out this instagram feed from their menu tasting…

Best Lunch: Zinc Bistro and Bar

Zinc’s Restaurant Week lunch was met with incredible wine pairing suggestions from our server and you cannot beat their patio, it’s seriously like Europe landed in San Antonio.

Traveling Around Town?  Here are some other places to check-out today…

Alamo Heights: Paloma Blanca’s menu is stellar and be sure to get a margarita (Tier 1 so it’s on the cheap), El Machito has a great menu as well as margarita too. We loved Max’s menu as well, another friend chicken must-have….

Stone Oak area: SMOKE The Restaurant – you cannot go wrong in the hand’s of chef Brian West, we are also fans of Two Step, a little out of stone oak range but still right off the highway, and worth the drive.

Southtown: BLISS, La Frite and Bite have been the talk of Restaurant Week Southtown- be sure to call ASAP if you want to get in the last dinner service tonight.  We could not get enough of Bite and La Frite’s Mussels.

Picks for San Antonio’s Restaurant Week Benefiting Culinaria 2015

Now in my third year of participating in San Antonio Restaurant Week I frequently get asked where I’m going for lunch and dinner. With $1 from lunch and $2 from each dinner being donated to Culinaria and the industry scholarship programs and urban farm.  Not only will you get to try all your must-stop restaurants but it is a great way to give back. This year they’ve extended the normal one week run to two full weeks of special three-course menus with dinners ranging from $25-35 and lunch from $10-15. This is a great way to try a new restaurant or something new at an old favorite. I’ve looked through the menus that are currently up on the Restaurant Week website and these are some that stood out to me as having something that I hopefully get to try in the last two weeks of August. But don’t just take my word for it, check out the website and see what piques your interest.

San Antonio Restaurant Week runs August 15-29, 2015 reservations are not required but strongly encouraged (especially if going with a group) Website

Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden Dinner Menu

I’ve always wanted to make it to Boiler house for Restaurant Week, this year I’m going to make an extra effort. Figs, fried oysters and hog jowl carnitas all appear under course one of them menu and the dishes sound great. Maybe I’ll invite two friends and we can try them all.

Chez Vatel Bistro Dinner Menu

I checked them out recently as they are also running half off their prix fixe menu for the month of August (normally $54 now only $27 for smaller portions, which in my opinion were still very filling) and the food was really great. The selections are imaginative and I had a hard time picking just one thing. The Restaurant Week menu also gives you a cheese plate option for dessert. When in France do as the French. Oui!

Esquire Tavern Dinner Menu

Steak Tartare on a tasting menu?! Shut up and take my money! And I’ll take the fried chicken too. Plus Esquire has a great drink menu as every bar should. I’m always impressed with Esquire’s food and can’t wait to try what I’m betting will be a delicious Restaurant Week menu. The only thing I can’t decide on is the dessert. Do I get an ice cream sandwich or chocolate mousse? Can’t I get both??

SweetFire Kitchen Lunch & Dinner Menu

SweetFire Kitchen is located at La Cantera Hill Country Resort, yes, it’s far. But I think technically it’s still in San Antonio so get over it now. Plus, they’re offering a crab cake with bacon, avocado and habanero for on their lunch menu. And it comes with dessert. Their dinner menu doesn’t look bad either, I spy lobster mac n cheese. Yum.

Las Canarias Lunch & Dinner Menu

Another new restaurant to me this menu looked good too. The lunch has an option of shrimp and grits and a brisket grilled cheese. Located inside the Omni La Masion I’m interested to check the place out while getting a good meal. This coconut sorbet looks good as well. I love when chefs pair a light dessert with a menu as sometimes sorbet is just what the doctor ordered after stuffing ones self with shrimp and grits.
