Then there was that day we checked out a new coffee shop, and I just happened to have my camera with me.

CommonWealth Coffeehouse & Bakery is located in the Trinity area, and offers amazing coffee and handmade French pastry every morning, and salads and soups around lunchtime. I hadn’t stopped in yet, and Emily and I decided to begin our workday there with our staple orders: an Americano with 2% and Splenda for me, and a regular drip with cream in a kitten cup for Em. I arrived first and was immediately in love. The lighting in this place is just…. amazing. I could imagine going on a coffee date here, cozied up on the dark blue settee, the morning light filtering in and filling the space with an angelic glow. Seriously, ladies, talk about flattering light. Large windows and bare Edison bulbs offer an interesting balance of natural light and warm tungsten light; it’s like natural Photoshop.

I love all of the little details and textures in this place, too… subway tile behind the counter, distressed wooden planks below your feet and above your head, a small indoor hanging herb garden, and the chairs! Oh, the fabrics on the chairs and sofas are a dream: twill, canvas, worn rattan. I’m a big texture person, so the collections of porcelain, sleek metals and sweating bottles made for a perfect little photo-snapping frenzy before I even had my coffee (which, in case you were wondering, was divine).

We’re looking forward to spending more time here, basking in the perfect lighting with a hot cup of Cuvee coffee and a lemon meringue tart (yes, for breakfast, because I’m gross). I can’t wait until it gets warmer so we can commandeer a table on the patio.

That’s all for today, friends; check out my little gallery below… And then come check out Commonwealth!
